Meta Universe Web 3.0 Economy 

The Web 3.0 encrypted meta-universe is a virtual world economy in emerging markets, and its complex combination of digital goods, services, and assets continues to develop, creating real-world value for users.

The early Web 3.0 meta-universe was usually built on the blockchain computing platform (the first layer), and many contributed to the development of games and in-game items that can be freely traded on the blockchain.

Financial services giant Goldman Sachs released a research report highlighting blockchain technology’s potential in metaverse and Web 3 applications. BACKGROUND: The report noted blockchain’s ability to independently verify unique digital assets, without the need for a central authority. Goldman analysts believed that a partial elimination of centralized control could disrupt companies currently dependent on user identity.

3 Metaverse themes to keep an eye on in 2022 

What’s going to be the biggest metaverse development next year? Predictions range from day-to-day jobs shifting to the metaverse to bots minting NFTs, and even the first billion-dollar hack owing to an increase in DeFi activity. We’d say there are three main themes you ought to keep track of. 

#1 – More Brands Means More Mainstream

This year we saw major brands entering the metaverse. Adidas, Coca-Cola, Nike, the NBA, even Hyundai announced its plans to present its future vision for the metaverse at the upcoming CES 2022. This trend will not be slowing down anytime soon, and we’re sure to see larger investments from corporate marketing departments as companies continue to launch new NFT projects. The core to NFTs are the communities, and communities aren’t about companies – they are about ideas that bring people together, people who otherwise might not meet except in these NFT communities. Successful NFT projects start from the ground up, and not top down. The future will tell as to whether these brands will have staying power as they try to mobilize their web2 consumer and woo the web3 world.

#2 – Gamification Intensifies 

Besides gaming and esports companies taking on the metaverse, we believe that in 2022, brands will deepen their understanding of the benefits of gamification in the metaverse as part of their digital branding strategies (think Nike’s Roblox ‘Nikeland’). They’ll find the metaverse helps them connect with their target consumers in a whole new light.  

#3 – Metaverse Fashion Heats Up

Your physical wardrobe isn’t all you’re going to have to stay on top of – what’s your avatar going to wear? Fashion brands have already set foot in the metaverse. Collaborations we saw this year included Zara X Zepeto, Balenciaga X Fortnite, and Gucci X Roblox. The year ended with a major announcement that Nike’s acquired digital wearables brand of RTFKT and Adidas' took in more than $22 million for the brand’s first NFT drop. We’re certain we’ll see many, many more.

El metaverso no existe, pero sí se puede invertir indirectamente si sabes cómo. Tanto a través de compañías productoras del hardware o software previsiblemente necesario para la creación y uso del metaverso. El desarrollo del concepto está liderado por Facebook, pero hay otras muchas compañías cotizadas satélite que quieren participar en su desarrollo:

Los expertos de Bankinter consideran que las compañías mencionadas tienen negocios sólidos dentro del sector tecnológico (producción de ordenadores, móviles, consolas, software profesional o doméstico, videojuegos, componentes informáticos, ...). DCG (the market leader in digital assets) and global real estate firm Jamestown have partnered to recreate One Times Square (the site of the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop Celebration) in Decentraland, the leading decentralized virtual world. ✨ Dubbed “MetaFest 2022,” the event will include NFT art galleries, rooftop VIP lounges, and virtual music performances. 

Jamestown, the owner of One Times Square, will replicate the 26-story tower at the heart of NYC’s New Year’s Eve ball drop in Decentraland:‘‘Recreating One Times Square in the Decentraland metaverse is part of a larger digital asset strategy to evolve and enhance our physical real estate for Web 3.0 and open new pathways for our assets to exist in multiple metaverses in the future,” saidMichael Phillips, President of Jamestown.

This isn’t the first time Jamestown has bet on the metaverse. Last year, the firm debuted the app VNYE, which offers a virtual space for users to experience New York traditions. Some of those traditions include exploring the Times Square Plazas, collecting confetti to earn points for avatars, and visiting the observation deck at One Times Square. ?

MetaFest 2022 will feature music and entertainment acts, VIP rooftop lounges, CryptoArt galleries, and immersive games. Through livestreams of New York City, virtual billboards will connect the event to its physical counterpart. Along with One Times Square, the area consists of approximately 170 LAND parcels, which include five buildings with distinct exterior aesthetics and active interiors. ?

This event coincides with the real Times Square Ball Drop, which will feature only 15,000 socially distant and fully vaccinated attendees. Decentraland’s New Year’s party is an extension of the ongoing metaverse trend where the value of virtual real estate continues to rise.

The Metaverse

While some people are opposed to it, and some are full-blown believers, what’s undeniable is that it's coming and we’re still in the early days. While the concept of a “metaverse” isn’t new, the newfound potential thanks to consistent technological innovation and advancements in computing power is. 

Over the years many innovators have been working on the technology responsible for what we know as augmented reality and virtual reality. Early on we had prototypes and working concepts which included things like virtual tours of areas and even games, but technological advances in computing power have allowed these products to improve exponentially over the last few years and allowed new businesses to take part.  Recent developments like Nike (NKE:NYSE) filing for seven trademark applications for virtual clothing (including footwear) and Apple (AAPL:NASDAQ) owning patents for “rings” show that there’s plenty of big players who are very interested in developing their presence in the space. 

The area is receiving a lot more attention thanks to the likes of Facebook changing its name to Meta Platforms (FB:NASDAQ) and positioning itself as a “metaverse company”. Others such as Roblox (RBLX:NYSE) are already well versed in the metaverse space, while Microsoft (MSFT:NASDAQ) are looking to incorporate metaverse-like features into its Microsoft Teams product with Mesh. 

As for infrastructure that enables the metaverse, the likes of NVIDIA (NVDA:NASDAQ) are helping to provide the necessary tools to facilitate it with its semiconductors (3D graphics accelerators, CPU’s and communication processors).

According to Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, the metaverse is a “Trillion-dollar opportunity”. If you’re still not convinced, just consider the fact that a digital Gucci bag sold in a Roblox game for more than it’s real life equivalent.
